Time for small business employee training

The program that small businesses have been waiting for has arrived.
The new Small Business Employee Training Program is designed to solve one of the biggest concerns facing B.C.’s small business owners today: having well-trained staff to grow their businesses as the economy recovers.

To improve the skills of workers who are under-qualified for their jobs, the province is providing small businesses with new training resources. Eligible businesses have fewer than 50 employees and have employees who require additional training for the workplace.
Such employees may not possess a high school diploma, or have a high school diploma but lack accreditation or essential skills. Forklift operation, first aid, bookkeeping and sales are just a few examples of the functions that can be funded for training.

The Creative Employment Access Society (CEAS) has been awarded the contract to deliver this program in the Comox Valley.
CEAS staff member Alison Roberts is the local small business employee training co-ordinator.

“Increased employee motivation, job satisfaction and morale are just a few of the benefits of this program,” she says.
To find out more about this program and the eligibility of your business, contact Roberts at 250-703-3523. Funding is provided through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Agreement.
