Residential Program Workers are needed for Relief shifts with the opportunity to apply for future permanent positions. * Can be up to 40hrs/week. Locations: All Residential Programs: Campbell River, Oyster River, Comox The Residential Care Worker works as a member of a team responsible for assisting the residents with activities of daily living and to provide opportunities to promote independence and self-esteem. The Residential Care Worker is responsible for introducing and implementing ideas and activities that will increase the residents independence and social skills. **As the residential group homes are open all hours every day of the week, the hours of work for the position include awake nightshifts.
REQUIREMENTS: Possess a valid Class IV Driver's License (UPON 90 DAYS OF HIRE) Obtain First Aid and CPR Provide a current (every 3 years) TB test result Consent to a Criminal Record Check as per Association policy Provide a completed Physicians Approval of Health Obtain Food Safe Certification Participate in Non Violent Crisis Intervention QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Human Services Worker Certification or certification in a relevant field Three to six month prior job experience (paid or volunteer), working with people with developmental disabilities Previous experience working with people with dual diagnosis and challenging and/or aggressive behaviour an asset Must display a proven ability to calmly and effectively work with challenging and aggressive behaviour Must display an understanding and ability to work with individuals with mental disability and mental illness Must display enthusiasm and energy and be a contributing team member. Basic computer skills required Must be physically fit, willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job Must be able to swim on a regular basis
