Duties: Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Residence Care Worker is responsible for assisting individual’s to live successfully in a Residential settings such as group homes; ensuring that individual’s physical, emotional, social, educational, and medical needs are met; Assisting individuals to enhance the quality of life with activities of daily living and the development of life skills. The residence worker plans, develops and implements recreational, social and educational activities and strives to create a fun & enjoyable atmosphere in order to encourage individual participation in programs.
Requirements: A minimum of Grade 12 Graduation and/or a Certificate in a related human/social service field plus a minimum of two years recent related experience working with developmentally challenged adults and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Ministry of Heath Licensing requirements is an asset. Willing to train the right candidate

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Monitors individuals during shift hours and ensures their safety Takes care of individual’s needs (medical or otherwise) that may arise, and deal with any behavioral problems Good knowledge of theory, principles, practices, policies and procedures related to the field and work Knowledge catheter care. Knowledge of fire safety and fire equipment Involved in meal preparation. and housekeeping, duties Ability to interact effectively with and support developmentally challenged adults, and family members and business associates Ability to work co-operatively and effectively with co-workers, effective interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to teach skills and work effectively with others; without supervision Assist with hygiene, grooming, dispensing and taking of medication and has knowledge of universal procedures Skill in behaviour management and task analysis Good verbal and written communication, data collecting, observation and reporting skills
