Hours: 10 - 15 hours per week
Duties: The Courtenay Recreational Association’s Building Friendship program requires an enthusiastic, dependable Community Support Worker. This position requires flexibility, reliability and a desire to help create an inclusive community. If you are able to work independently while maintaining a strong team approach and have the time and commitment, we have a position for you! The Building Friendships program is focused on helping individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their families create and maintain social networks, increase community involvement and provide opportunities for development of social skills. Our unique program provides support, on a one to one bases, to utilize the community as a place to connect people and help them to be the best they can be. As a Community Support Inclusion Worker, you will mentor program participants and support their involvement in community activities.
Requirements: Credentials Certificate in Human/social services or related discipline or acceptable combination of education and experience Suitability Experience working with individuals with diverse abilities Demonstrate Have a person centred focus Demonstrate excellent verbal & written communication skills Have strong organizational skills and dependable work ethics Available to start work as soon as possible Available for flexible weekday work hours with the occasional evening or weekend hours Conditions of employment: Current First aid/CPR Reliable vehicle for transporting program participants Valid BC driver’s license Clear/current driver’s abstract Vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check
