This year, 2020, we are embracing something new!
Typically, Work BC Courtenay hosts an annual Job Fair each October. Due to Covid, we are adapting to a new format to connect employers and job seekers.
The job fair allowed each employer to showcase their company values, create connections, share information on career opportunities and answer questions from job seekers. We had overwhelming evaluations from the employers and job seekers that this time of connecting, sharing and learning was highly valued. And many people were hired!
This Fall we are putting together a virtual Job Fair series. The WorkBC – Courtenay vision is to host a different employer each week for a 1 hour Zoom session.
Similar to what occurs at an exhibitor table at the job fair, employers will provide information on:
- Who they are
- Company background, vision and values
- Current and future job openings
- Qualifications and skills needed to apply for positions
- How they advertise for job openings?
- How to apply
- What they look for in a resume
- Interview process
- Any other keys or tips for individuals making career planning choices or looking for work
And, then answer questions. All within one hour!
