Bookkeeper/ Administrative Assistant

Duties: Accounts Payable: Process invoices from vendors and ensure timely payments. Maintain records of accounts payable transactions. Accounts Receivable: Record incoming payments and reconcile them with invoices. Follow up on overdue payments and send reminders as necessary. General Ledger Maintenance: Record financial transactions in the general ledger using appropriate accounting software. Ensure accuracy and completeness of entries. Reconcile bank statements and other accounts regularly. Payroll Processing: Calculate and process employee payroll in compliance with relevant regulations. Maintain payroll records and prepare reports as required. Remit payroll taxes and other deductions promptly. Filing T4 returns. Completing annual WCB report and payment. Processing ROE’s as needed using ROE web. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts. Provide financial reports to management and the board of directors as needed. Filing monthly reports with BC Housing. Compliance and Auditing: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies. Assist in the preparation for audits and provide support during audit processes. Implement recommendations from auditors to improve internal controls and processes. Donation Processing Record and acknowledge donations received from supporters. Maintain donor databases and ensure the accuracy of donor records. Prepare donation receipts using Donation Software. Administrative Support Assist in other administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and correspondence. Collaborate with other team members to support the And other duties as needed
Requirements: Education and Experience: A diploma or degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in financial principles and practices may be considered an asset. Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role, preferably within a non-profit organization, showcasing a deep understanding of the sector\''s unique financial landscape and requirements. Technical Skills: Proficiency in using QuickBooks Online accounting software and the MS Office suite, particularly Excel, to efficiently manage and analyze financial data. Core Competencies: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial record-keeping. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, contributing to the reliability and integrity of financial information. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple financial responsibilities effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering productive relationships with colleagues and interest-holders.
