Preparing for the Workplace – Tip # 3

RULE THREE:   Don’t be Late for Work

Be reliable. Being late more than occasionally makes a statement about who you are. Much like  being absent does; being late puts an unfair burden on your coworkers because they have to pick up the slack until you get there. It also labels you as someone who can’t be responsible or trusted, and that holds you back. Plan to be at work 10 to 15 minutes early just in case something unexpected happens and that can help give you extra time if you miss the bus (even by seconds) or busses are running behind or you run into traffic being slower than usual (even if you’re driving). Being on time to work is a matter of preparing properly.
