Duties: We are looking for a reliable, patient, and encouraging Support Worker to work one-on-one with a 19-year-old female as she builds independence, confidence, and community skills. The Support Worker will follow an established plan developed by a Behaviour Consultant and provide consistent support toward educational, volunteer, and independent-living goals. Responsibilities Follow and implement strategies outlined in her Behaviour Support Plan. Support her in completing assignments and schoolwork for her English course at North Island College (NIC). Help with organization, planning, and staying on track with school expectations and deadlines. Teach and practice public transit skills. Practice safe walking routes to college, volunteer opportunities, and other community locations. Support her in attending and participating in volunteer opportunities. Encourage independence rather than completing tasks for her. Provide clear, consistent expectations and positive encouragement. Communicate with the family regarding progress, successes, and areas where additional support may be needed. We Are Looking For Someone Who Is patient, dependable, calm, and consistent. Enjoys working with young adults and helping them develop independence. Is comfortable following a structured Behaviour Support Plan. Can provide clear instructions and break larger tasks into manageable steps. Is comfortable using public transit and walking within the community. Has experience supporting individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or diverse learning needs. Experience is preferred but the right personality and willingness to learn are equally important. Is able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality. Position Details Comox Valley / North Island College and surrounding community Schedule: Part-time; hours will be arranged around school, volunteering, and support needs.
