Hours: monday - friday and 1 weekend/month

Duties: - Provide daily support with personal care, hygiene, dressing, toileting and bathing - Assist with mobility, including use of a walker and wheelchair - Prepare meals and support healthy daily routines - Provide transportation to day program, appointments, activities and community outings - Schedule and coordinate medical, dental and other appointments - Support prescribed exercises and daily routines - Encourage independence, choice and participation in everyday activities - Support community involvement, recreation and social activities - Monitor general health, safety and wellbeing - Maintain accurate care records, schedules and documentation - Complete basic computer and administrative tasks, including emails and forms - Communicate with family, healthcare professionals, respite workers and other members of the support team - Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming home environment - Organize personal supplies, clothing and other day-to-day needs - Respond appropriately to unexpected situations and make sound day-to-day decisions - Provide consistent, respectful and person-centred support

Requirements: - Able to provide a suitable level-entry home (or 1–2 steps) in the Comox Valley - A licensed driver with a reliable four-door vehicle - Comfortable managing appointments, schedules, forms and documentation - Independent, confident and able to make sound decisions - Able to work collaboratively with family and a support team - An excellent communicator and comfortable using a computer - Physically able to safely assist with mobility and day-to-day care

She has a great sense of humour, a warm personality and enjoys being around people. We are looking for someone who will genuinely enjoy spending time with her and helping her live a happy, active life. She uses a walker indoors and a wheelchair in the community. She would move into and share your home, where you would provide a safe, welcoming environment and support her with personal care, daily routines and living a full, active and enjoyable life. She attends a day program Monday through Friday and has regular respite weekends with another care provider, giving the Home Share Provider regular personal time and built-in breaks. We are looking for someone who can make this their primary professional commitment. The position requires flexibility and availability and would not suit someone maintaining another regular job.
