Wage: 17.85 + 6% vacation pay
Hours: 0-40 weekly
Duties: • Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received. • Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs. • Present a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) and represent TSA well while on duty. • Work with minimal supervision. • Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and associated legislation. • Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution. • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements: • Must be willing and able to work shifts that may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. • Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per the Christmas Kettle Campaign operational requirements. • Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. • Local travel may be associated with this position. • Work environment is typically in malls/stores • Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather. • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. • Ability to work with minimal supervision. • Reliable transportation to kettle location. • Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs.). • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. • Honest, courteous, and punctual; represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner. • Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities. • Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities. • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donors, volunteer, and organizational information. • Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution. • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
